Only thing I am planning to upgrade is my gpu and I was thinking gtx780 after the recent price drop. I will be shopping in Australia so the price would be around $100-150 higher than the US

I am thinking of getting the gtx780 and obviously Asus was my first choice since I have been using them for a long time and am very satisfied with them. However, the gtx780 direct cu II retails $699 over here whereas the palit jetstream is only $599. My question -is the price difference worth it? EVGA acx is $649 so its in the middle. What should I settle for? If you have any difference recommendation, I am all ears- I wouldn't even mind getting amd if its worth it.

I prefer Asus because they overclock exceptionally well- gtx670 reached 1323/7120mhz and fully stable.

Well the MSI gtx 780 lightning technically the best 780 there is, but I don't think many people have had good experiences with palit. You should wait and see what retail R9-290s perform like, apparently putting an arctic accelero 3 cooler on it helps a whole lot.
