Ok so im working with a fractal design core 3000 case (the newer one with USB 3.0). It has 3 fans pre installed. The front, top, and back. Im lost in so many ways right now..

My mother board is a ASUSM5A97 R2.0 970 AM3+...im sure it can handle 3 fans fine, but i plan to upgrade the front 2 fans to blue LED fans, and move the existing to the second "top" slot. This will total 5 fans now. My options..case came with a 3 fan, 1 knob fan controller type thing. Im looking online at things like http://http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14662/ele-988/3-Pin_P...

and this, http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/phobya-4-pin-pcb.html to me it appears the difference is one connects to the mobo, and the other to the PSU? if thats the case can my mobo control all the fans properly? guide me in the right direction, gurus. Im not trying to spend more than 20 dollars in this deal.

Heres my entire build (parts coming in the mail)
FX-6300
ASUSM5A97 R2.0 970
Asus Radeon HD 7870
Hyper 212 EVO
Fractal Design Core 3000 case
Kingston SSD 60GB
Hitatchi 7200 1TB HDD
G.Skill Ripjaw 1600 mhz

did you have that in your case box Three-channel PCI bracket fan controller also your motherboard could handle 3 fans with pwm connector .

Yes the fan controller came with the case. the fan controller alone handles three fans from one output. Will one of those devices linked be able to be controlled by the temp of the motherboard? will the fans be controlled or be full blazin at all times.

Now how about this as the setup..you say i have 3 slots for fans on my MOBO...Can i use the fan controller included to plug into one spot (can control 3 fans). Leaves me with 2 slots for the other 2 fans? will they all run "smart" w. temp control and going idle

Not sure exactly which device youre referring to, but if its the fan controller included with the case, heres a pic.
in my attempts to power 2 of my case fans (not stock) through the controller have failed. testing on an old dell before rest of my parts come in the mail. Fans works fine when connected straight to mobo and or psu, but through the fan controller no luck...is the old mobo the problem?

see the cooling specs there is a adaptor in it http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/core-s... this adaptor is not the one tha came with the case and if you plug it the way you write it should work if it is good ,you could aslo use some little y fan splitter cable and connect 2 fans in the same slot on the motherboard

i wont be able to totally update this config until my real parts come in the mail...it could even be a BIOS issue? anyways, the cooling system specs have it labled as a" PCI bracket "controller. there is def no pci slot to plug into, its just a cables deal
