Hi everyone,

So I'm looking for a new monitor to get for gaming. Something that's in the range of 200 to 250 and within the 5 to 1 ms GTG response time. If anything know's of something good for me let me know.

I was looking at:

ASUS VE248Q
ASUS VE248H

And some others.. Now, I am looking at the BenQ XL2420TE but thats 329 dollars..

Any help would be awesom!

Asus and BenQ are my favorites, jsut look at the ones that fit your needs, then narrow it down by spec and read some of the reviews, the Egg, (newegg) is a good place to look, you can compare up to 5 different items side by side

I recommend you ignore the response times listed in the specifications. That's so poorly defined as to be pure marketing hype. A monitor listed as 1ms response time could have worse ghosting (especially if you count inverse ghosting) than one listed as 8ms response time.

alright good to know. But I see on newegg all these different 24 inch and 27 inch monitors from ASUS that look the exact same but some have H and the end and the others have Q.. What does this mean?

Focus on the customer review comments that say "great for gaming" or whatever as well as the product page.

I trust a high customer review score and the comments more than anything else.

I would trust a professional level review from a site like TFTCentral, X-Bit Labs, etc. (including here at tomshardware) more than user reviews, but a lot of monitors don't get reviewed at the professional level.

I agree in part, but often professional reviewers don't use the product enough to report on issues that crop up over time like bleeding or simply dying.

I guess BOTH customer and professional reviews would be ideal.
