Hey guys, first time poster here. I've had this odd issue recently where I'll put my pc to sleep overnight and when I go to wake it up everything runs fine for about 3 to 5 minutes, then my pc shuts down. No shutdown screen, it's almost as if someone just pulled the plug. And to reboot it I have to flip the switch on the back of my PSU, and then it boots up fine and runs all day. I've only started having this problem recently, and I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's wrong. I don't believe it's a faulty PSU since it worked fine for months before this. I did switch cases recently, but I'm fairly certain everything has been plugged in correctly. Also, this doesn't seem to happen unless it's an overnight sleep. I just got back from my 8 hour shift and it woke up and has been running just fine.

My Specs:

AMD FX Vishera 8320
ASRock 970 Extreme4
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870
466GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKX-00ERMA0 ATA Device (SATA)
60GB SanDisk SDSSDH2064G ATA Device (SSD)
ATAPI iHAS324 C ATA Device
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
850 Corsair PSU (Not exactly sure of the make/model)

Thanks in advance for any help guys, and I apologize if this thread was made in the wrong spot.

If you did a clean install and it is still the same then you definitely have a hardware problem. Very strange, I would have to think PS ( have to change my mind! ) or possibly the BIOS! I would either try any other PS, even if it is too small, since you just want it to prove it to be stable waking up after sleep. I would also look into any possible BIOS upgrades available for your MB. Most of the Posts below are suggesting similar solutions. There is a small possibility of an SSD anomaly too. Check your SSD manufacturer for firmware updates. My Samsung 830 SSD occasionally won't turn on during cold starts and the BIOS screen pops up a second time, where it finally wakes up and starts normally. My sleep does work, but maybe one...

The first thing I would try is System Restore to a date before this problem started to occur. There is also a Windows repair function on you W7 DVD. Just insert the DVD like you are going to install W7 and you will be given a choice to repair the OS system files. PS's are the cause of a lot of problems, but I agree, in this case, it not likely your PS.

Hmm, I may give that a try but I did just reinstall windows yesterday in an attempt to solve the problem with no avail. I wiped my SSD and everything according to a clean installation guide I was reading.
