I've been looking at the R9 290 non X edition it's 400 on the mark and it has AMAZING performance for buck from what I've seen, but I was just wanting some feedback because the 770's dropped to 330 so that's doable now. I was also wondering if buying some type of cooling solution would be worth it.

Hello. What games do you plan on playing? What monitor do you have?
I have the r9 290x and if you get the r9 290 i would set your temp target at 80c with a fan speed of 100.
That seems to be the sweet spot for me. 70c target temp and the fan would get noicesy for me and 75 was just about rite. But i settled with 80c because the temp is usauly around 72c anyways when underload.

I have a 23 inch Acer 1920x1080 I don't plan on going above anytime soon, maybe buying 1 or 2 more though in the future. I just recently bought a new board and an FX 8350 so this is just part of a suite of upgrades I'm going to be doing. the R9 290 is right on par with the 290x for 150+ less I thought about buying an after market cooler is it worth it or not?

which one was it and how much was it?

Go with the R9 290 + overclock/mod it with a cooler.
