I guess that's a virus....Did you check it with your anti-virus software? And,to retrieve the files...I'll suggest something which you could try. Try to type the file's name or extension,if you want to get many files of same type, and search it with windows.Windows may find the files, and you can copy the files to another medium.

Okay, try this for your files maybe hidden by the virus. Open up Command prompt (Best with admin rights) and type this command:
attrib -H -S G:\*.* /S /D /L
where G should be your HDD's letter. Try this and see if the files are shown.

Okay,I'll suggest another solution. Seeing that you see some found0001 folder, and if you can't open the folders,do this:

1. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then

click Properties .

2. Click the Security tab, clickAdvanced , and then click the Owner tab.

3. Click Edit .

4. Click the name of the person you want to give ownership to.

5. If you want that person to be the owner of files and subfolders in this

folder, select theReplace owner on subcontainers and objects check

box.

6. Click OK .

And to rename the extension,do this:
Open My computer
Press Alt and you'll see a menu bar on top.
Choose Tools option...Go to Folder Options.
Select view tab.
Look for an option which says,Hide extension for known file types.Deselect that and Press Apply--->Ok.
Now you'll b able to see the file extensions along with file names. Select the file you want to change extension, and select rename. Then change the extension to whichever you need.
Good luck...
