I am looking to put together a gaming desktop... the system will be used for 99% Counterstrike 1.6

I do take my gameplay very seriously and sometimes go for stretches of 100+ per week for months on end.....so I need a system that will play the game flawlessly...

I need to achieve 100fps at all times

Budget range: $600 - $700

Parts not required in build cost: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

I am thinking of going with the new BenQ XL2420t 120hz monitor - so not sure if need a graphics that would be compatible or not?
( Or maybe there is a better gaming monitor out there? )

I am in the USA, Thanks!

What would be a comparable Intel processor if I decided to go that route? And what if I just wanted and SSD instead of the internal HD?

Anyone else have a few system ideas for me?

This one is a bit over budget, but it does include an SSD and an Ivy Bridge i5.

Since CS 1.6 is an older game, I have been reading that and I3 or I5 quad core would be better then the AMD 6 core because they are better PER core then AMD? Is this true?

Yes, core for core Intel is much stronger.

If you play a majority of older games you can grab an FX-8320 and disable secondary cores, which would help a bit in this aspect.

If I wanted to go I5, what one would work with this current set up, or would I have to change some things?

Yes, Intel is stronger and uses less power than AMD.
