Hi,

I have a win 7 pc. My problem is that the pc restarts randomly. Now I know there is a heat related problem that I run into this VAIO laptop. For which I have a cooling pad which helps little bit. However I have found the PC randomly restarting even when the system is not too hot. In my mind I have 2 problems for which I need help here

1. Excessive heating problem. Machine detail : VPCCW21FX Sony Vaio Laptop i3 processor, 4GB RAM , 64 BIT OS

2. Random restarts: I have 2 types of restarts here.. One when I am playing games(might be heating related) and also at random times(when the PC is not too hot and I am browsing on facebook for example)

Any help on this would be appreciated. I am new to this forum so if there is more information required please let me know.

Thanks

Problem 1:

May Dust has built up inside your Latop . or the heatsink on the side or the fan.

Try cleaning the inside of your laptop if you dont know how to Open a laptop get help From a friend who knows how to or a repair shop.

Problem 2: Try isolating it . I had the same problem . Give me more details about your PC . how many minutes does it restart . or does it turn on when you hit the power button . do the fans still run after shutdown . etc

Thanks for the response

@trowinity: It restarts once in 3 hr.. there is nothing specific I would do to cause a restart which is why I am not able to isolate the issue. I have enabled mini dump etc but do not know how to analyze it.

@power: I had AVG but since this problem started I disabled it.

My biggest problem is I do not know how to isolate this issue. If there is some sort of step by step instruction for this it would be helpful in my mind.
