Hi guys,

Im currently putting parts together for a new build. I was looking around amazon and came across this:

Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600mhz (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-Vengea...)

and

Corse Vengeance Low Profile 8GB 2133mhz (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CML8GX3M2A2133C11B-Veng...)

Does anyone have any idea why the 2133mhz is £12 cheaper than the 1600mhz? It is low profile too...

Thanks!

Because of demand.. the lower speed DDR3 is actually more expensive because there is a smaller market for it.

Just from a quick look I would say it's because of the CL. You want the lowest CL you can get. I honestly recommend G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz, but I don't know your price range.

Thanks for the replies guys, im still pretty new at this so this is helpful information.

For the RAM im looking to spend between £60-£70. Im happy with 1600mhz but I just wasn't sure if I should get the 2133mhz since its cheaper.

Alot of people seem to suggest G.Skill. Do you think this might be better than th Corsair Vengeance?

Well both of those 1600mhz are cl9 so it down to price. I just got my first set of G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz 8gb x2 and love it, but it's a bit more expensive for that set. Rip jaws are great too I hear, so go based on price but if you want higher speed make sure to take the latencies into consideration.

No all the PC can run the ram at 2133mhz or 2400mhz. Like intel 4th gen they support up to 1600mhz, over that you need to OC. For amd fx cpu they are up to 1866mhz.

For the price the 2133mhz is very good and also it is low profile if you have the after market cup cooler, you may consider to get it because it can install whatever slot you want, no limit. If your pc can't run 2133mhz, you alway under clock to 1866mhz or 1600mhz.

To give the best possible advice, would help to know what mobo and CPU so will know what the combo is capable of running, i.e. many mobos are rated for DRAM up through 2666-3000 sticks, but would need a top end CPU like a 4770K to run those freqs

I am running the Asrock z77 Extreme4 mobo with the Intel i5 3570k CPU.

I think the best course of action would be to go with the Corsair Vengeance 2133mhz. Even if my comp can't run it, I can always underclock it to 1600mhz AND I get the bonus of low profile for £12 cheaper than the standard RAM. Good idea?

Should be good to go with 2133 and your CPU/mobo combo, have fun ! ;)
