Evening folks,

Been looking at getting a new Processor for a while now and finally acquired the funds to do so.

Had a quick look around eBuyer and noticed that they had a few AMD's on offer.

Possibilities are 4350 (4.2GhZ), a 6300 (3.5GhZ) or at a push a 6350 (3.9GhZ).

Had a bit of advice off a friend who recons the 4 core 4350 will be the better option for running games such as BF4, that the 6 core is just overkill.

What do you folks recon and are there any better deals for around the £100 mark?

Cheers
Polo

You should go with FX-6300 it has best performance/price and is now listed for £83

For running say BF4 would I see much of a difference between the two?

On the same note, could my MB an Asus M5A78L-M LX be able to run the 6 core?

Thanks for your help Maurelie.

Out of interest is my MB able to handle the 4350? I would assume so but it's newer than the 6300 so just double checking.

Thanks

no way 6 cores are overkill indeed battlefield 4 is optimized for AMD 6 cores, so unless you want to face frame drops, get a 6300 or 6350, there is absoloutly no sense to go 4 cores, more games are on the way which will use even up to 8 cores, for example crysis 3 or watch dogs wich will use 8 cores, so go for the middle ground grab either 6300 or 6350, don't buy the 4350

On Battlefield 4 the difference in frames between FX 4100 and i7 4960x is 4 fps.

this one says something else http://www.bf4blog.com/battlefield-4-retail-gpu-cpu-ben... , techspot had tested only one level which was not a cpu dependant level presumingly

Cheers for the replies gents.

In your honest opinion, if you were to get one of the 4/6 core AMD processors which would you get?

I could stretch to the 6350 if it was worth spending the extra £20 over the 6300 and worth it over the 4350.

Cheers

FX 6350 is 125w tdp CPU ,so you will need another motherboard because Asus M5A78L-M LX struggles with 125w tdp CPU. On the other hand FX 6300 is 95w tdp CPU and it will run just fine on Asus M5A78L-M LX

Thanks very much Maurelie, is the 4350 not also a 125w TDP?

if i were you i would buy fx 6350, because of two reasons, games are getting heavily threaded, there is no sense to buy 4350 really and honestly...if you bought 6300 or 6350 you will be fine even in games like crysis 3 http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Crysis-3-PC-235317/Tests/... you see in this game there is no name of fx 4350 because it does poorly in this game, and alot of examples I can provide you with ... now we are down to one question 6350-6300 is it worth the price difference? yes! look here http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-FX-6350-vs-AMD-FX-6300 there is part which says value...Are you paying a premium for performance? yes so get the fx 6350

So essentially, 6300 is not only the best price, it is also the most compatible with my MB?

Not yet. One thing at a time buddy. Will get the CPU sorted then and when I have the funds will look at a new MoBo.

So the 6300 is unanimous then?
