Hi,

I have a stock build pc but i want to change my gpu. For that ive tried to make some room by putting the 2 sata's ( from HDD and disk reader) to the slots above them ( i have 4 ports).

I noticed that both devices where noted in the the safely remove notification. Also my pc was quite slower with starting up and slower with shutting down and getting into sleep mode. When i put both back in the original slots the problem was gone and both my pc was fast at starting and shutting and both devices werent noted in the safely remove note ( also they where gone in my devices page where they where when they sat in those other 2 slots)

So, my question is: Why?

Why is there this huge and strange difference between those 2 ( the same) sata ports?

More about : sata ports slow fast

This could be due to design of board which gives preference to certain ports.

The speed must be similar as power is to be similar for all ports.

It shows that power supply is not same in all parts and it could be based on design of your system.

have you got hot swapping in bios turned on for some ports and not others?

The other SATA port may be controlled by another 3rd party controller. Installing the driver for it usually helps, but sometimes it's just the hardware limitation. What board do you have?

Its got nothing whatsoever to do with power, HDDs/SSDs have either enough power or not enough, they'll either work or not work.

if you look in bios you'll find the option for hot swapping.
Are the ports the same colour? normally different colour = different controller.
run cpu-z and we'll be able to get an idea of you mobo.

Actually some OEM do uses boards from MSI or Asus. It's not sold through retail, but through their OEM channel.
e.g. HP system uses Asus boards.

Its a medion computer.

Just checked their site, they sell PCs especially in the UK.
From the looks of it, I assume the same model might use different motherboard, based on what is the cheapest they can get during that time?
Medion PC: Hey I need 1000 boards at the cheapest price
MSI, I give to you for $2 each!
Medion PC: OK so MSI it is!

Next month:
Medion PC: I need 2000 boards!
Asrock: I give it for $5 each
Asus, $2.50 take it or leave it, plus a free Asus pen.
Medion PC: We'll take Asus!
:pt1cable:

I doubt CPU-Z will give any solid info, but you can try it out.
Also take a pic of the board if you can.

From the pictures, looks like a very cheap board from MSI.
All 4 SATA are controlled by the chipset and runs on SATA 3Gb/s.
Install the latest chipset drivers and Intel Rapid Storage Technology

I bought it for 700 with i7 gtx 550 ti 8gb ram and 1.5 tb HDD. Good price i would say but yes the board is minimal for price reduction and Ofc less upgradeability
