I am building a web browsing/word processing computer for my grandad, and the MicroATX case I chose came with one fan, which I think is fine for the AMD A4-5300 dual core. He has one of those desks with a computer slot underneath, a wooden enclosed area, with a hole at the back for the cables. If you would like to see something similar to his desk, here is an image.

I am replacing a cheap 2002 atx pentium 3 or 4 computer, which takes 15 minutes to boot to XP.

Should I place an exhaust case fan at the back, front, or left hand side above the CPU? I am using stock cooling for the CPU.

Thank you, and please no component reccomendations, or asking me to buy another fan. I would just like to know where to position the fan. :)

Hello... as Nature and Physics dictates in our physical world, heat always rises... and it does in an enclosed computer case... An Exhaust blowing fan mounted high in the case would be the best solution... if you want or need a 2nd fan, a Low mounted intake Fan can also help.
