I was curious if I would be able to upgrade my system from its current specs. I was thinking about switching to a Intel chip instead if it is worth my time. Anyone have some advice/recommendations for me? Would it be better to just stick with amd and keep the motherboard or is intel worth the switch? Thanks for the feedback :)

Current Specs (if needed I can explain more in deapth):
AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor @3.9 GHZ
Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 (overclocked)
Motherboard ASUSTeK M5A97 LE R2.0
550V Power Supply
16 gigs of ddr3 ram
2 hard drives (not that it makes a difference)

What I would go with if I were in your situation and switching to Intel.

But as it is, why do you feel like you need to upgrade? You should be fine in current games.

Thanks for the response, The reason I am interested in upgrading is because my dad wants to buy my motherboard, some ram and cpu, this would pay for a lot of that cost. I'm also curious how much of a gain I would get if you have any idea

Oh in that case, Intel would be the better option.

Compares the better AMD 8350 vs the 3570k (4670k is roughly 5-10% faster than the 3570k). This was all I could find the short time as I am currently at work right now.

As you can tell, the higher core count with AMD will trade blows with the 3570k in multi-tasking and the like, but you can see that in gaming the 3570k hands down stomps the 8350.

Generally, when budget isn't an issue or if you can spring for it, Intel will always win in perfomance and efficiency. You pay a premium for this alone. For the budget minded individual, AMD will do just fine for less money.

Thanks for the advice, i'l keep this in mind though I might just get a new amd chip, the problem is I am not willing to spend that much money in the future, The upgrades will be more expensive in the future if i get a Intel motherbaord. Thanks for that comparison :) . Any idea about the difference after overclocking?
