No internet explorer to access the internet

Hi I have windows xp Pro installed on my pc the internet explorer shortcut is there and when i click on it to access the internet it just shows an error message saying unable to find "null" i cannot access the internet at all as i dont have google chrome or fire fox installed could someone please advise how i can re-install ie please note i cant access the internet on my pc thanks

Can you not just download a copy from another PC onto a USB drive and install it that way?

I have done that with chrome and firefox downloaded and saved onto my flash drive when i put it in to the pc i found the file clicked on at 1st chrome but it didnt ask me to install and the same with firefox it is the full software for them not just the shortcut i downloaded unless i am doing something wrong mate

I have done that but when i tried to install it didnt do anything no option to start installing or anything unless i had done something wrong

You should have been able to install it that way. Can you at least launch chrome or FF and download internet explorer from there? Another consideration may be that your link to IE is just bad and you need to find where the application is installed on your PC and link to that location. I know it's called iexplore.exe so look for that and see where it is on your PC.
