Ivy Bridge or Haswell

So, I originally had my sights set on an Ivy Bridge i7-3770K because I heard that the Ivy Bridge’s overclocked better than their Haswell brethren. But I’m hearing that the Broadwell will have the same socket as the Haswell’s, and if I ever want to upgrade to the Broadwell I would be able to do that (granted I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the new chipset…). On top of that, every computer site and store is offering discounts on the Haswell and Z87 stuff and NOT the older generation Ivy Bridge and Z77 stuff. It’s also around the same price!

So what do I do? Get the 3770K? Or go with the 4770K? I’m not even considering the Ivy-E.

I have the 4770k I got it just for encoding purposes. I just can't seem use the the potential of the cpu it only uses 20% while encoding and it's still about 3x faster than my E8500 I think the cpu may be a bit overkill I haven't figured out anything that I can do with it yet.

Well to be honest I want to "Future Proof" my investment. I am still running a p4 3.4 ghz prescott! :)
Plays StarCraft II just fine, granted I have to watch the cutscenes on YouTube... On my iPad because I can't even watch YouTube videos on my P4...

I'm not necessarily going to upgrade to Broadwell, I'd just like to have the option. I upgraded the Northwood to the Prescott for example...
But I also want to do some OC'ing because I've only dabbled in it with my current rig over the past few years.
