I keep getting "AMD display driver has stopped responding" and I have tried pretty much everything apart from updating my motherboard bios. I have American Megatrends version P01-A0 and the date is 08/18/2009. I have been to their site but it was confusing. Thanks so much

Try the motherboard or computer manufacturer website... if you don't know the exact motherboard model, install Speccy to see it. With that info search in the manufacturer website and motherboard model page and you'll see a link to the downloads of Drivers, BIOS and manuals. Make sure to install the Chipset and Display drivers to try and solve the problem. If you don't have display, tap F8 every second after the BIOS post, and highlight the VGA Mode or the Safe Mode options, and press Enter to logon and update the chipset and display drivers.

I installed Speccy and it says that the model is EG43M (CPU 1). I googled around and it says that I have a GIGABYTE version but the Chipset Vendor is Intel on Speccy. This is the BIOS that I found:

I'm not sure if this is the right one and I'm really confused as the date of my current BIOS isn't on any of the updates.

See if HWiNFO confirms Speccy's results. Also post here your CPU make & model... and if the computer is of namebrand or homebuild.. if namebrand they may use their own BIOS or a different version from the one installed on the same model motherboard by the mobo manufacturer, and to find the right BIOS you probably have to search in the computer manufacturer website.

HWiNFO says: that my computer brand name is Packard Bell ixtreme m5722 and the motherboard model is Packard Bell EG43M. The chipset is Intel G43 (Eaglelake-G) + ICH10 Consumer. It says Acer before American Megatends and gives the same number as it did on speccy so should I download it from the acer site?

Yes, downloading from the Packard Bell website would probably be suggested in the owner's manual... But I'd like to know how/where did you come up with the American Megatrends version P01-A0 BIOS?
