H87-Pro mobo, 3rd or 4th gen processor?

if you're going to choose an H87 mobo, your only choices are Intel's Haswell (4th gen) CPUs. Intel's 8-series chipsets are not backwards compatible with Ivy Bridge (3rd gen) CPUs.
unless you've got everything else & got spare cash to spend or are involved in some way with rendering, video editing and other CPU intensive tasks, stick with the i5. if you're simply gaming & looking to save some more, there's the i5-4430. a 0.2ghz drop isn't going to equal a noticeable massive drop in performance there.
