Windows 8 assertion failed!

When I try to launch certain applications(call of duty ghosts, team viewer) it brings up a message that reads "Assertion failed! Programe: ... File: inetore/urlmon/browsermode/iebrowsermodefilter.cpp Line: 3995 Expression: uaMode >= BROWSER_USERAGENT_USTOM_START && uaMode <= BROWSER_USERAGENT_cUSTOM_END For information on how your programe an cause an assertion failure, see the Visual c++ documentation on asserts" Please help!!! I have had this problem for months now :(

I believe my OS is up to date. I got it as a IOS file from my cousin. He has a MSN subscriber account or something I don't really know I just know it was not pirated.

I am updated to 8.1 and I tried the method in the link. I have not tried a clean boot because I do not know much about it or what it does. should I try it?

some websites/programs track the versions of internet explorer . I would try another version (upgrade or downgrade) or try another browser.
-The versions provided in the dev releases may have debug code that you are hitting. I would install a final retail copy of the OS or at least install a updated browser.
