game download speeds very slow

i just built a new pc with windows 8,1 and all the drivers are installed. when i download any game my download speed max is 2.00 mbps but my old crappy laptop got 6.00 mbps. i downloaded the latest driver for the wifi adapter which is a tplink wn725n nano 150 mbps adapter. im trying to download bf3 and its going and it takes 5 min just for it to go up to 1% any fixes? thanks!!! and i rebooted many times!

try running http://www.speedtest.net/ on the new computer and the old one

11.56 mbps with bf3 installing in the background and around the same for the laptop.

bf3 is 20 or 16gb for the first install it took me about 4+ hours just for the main game not incuding the other25+ gp in updates and map packs and I am limited to a 12mbps connection as well

Your download speeds are greatly dependent on the server you're downloading from. So if you connect at peak times, it is going to be slower.

do you know the type of wireless it is like 802.11 for example that might make a difference cause if it is newer than the modem it might have compatibility issues and vis versa
