How much do you think mantle support in bf4 will affect performance? Right now with my R9 270X I can only get 45 fps on ultra in a 64 player server. Do you think it will give me the boost to turn settings from high to ultra and still get 50+ fps?

It's really hard to say at this point because there just isn't enough information. I really don't want to speculate and look like a fool either, so we will just have to wait and see. :D

Optimizations for games are great for reducing minimums and making a smoother gameplay experience and pumping out a few extra FPS. That said, it won't drastically make the 270x into a much more powerful card. I'd expect at most up to 1-5 FPS in some titles.

all articles i have seen seem more focused on less draw calls, less cpu overhead, rather than an increase in actual performance, although that does come hand in hand with less cpu overhead, particularly for systems with slower cpu's, and allowing more free cpu time for other tasks. Will be interesting to see how refined the API is, AMD have a track record of sub-standard drivers, will be looking forward to some benches, particularly with crossfire (assuming mantle will support crossfire).

Draw calls, when using the DX11 render path, *maybe* cost you about 1-2ms total per frame. So we're talking MAYBE 1-2 FPS here. Draw calls are only a problem if you do a lot of them for really simple objects, which no one does due to the performance problems that result.

Ok I had seen some people guessing it would be like glide and be a gain of like 30%, but that seems to not be the case. Thanks for the info.
