In my wifi enabled laptop, i'm unable to create a adhoc connection

In network and sharing center ---> Setup a connection/network -->Setup a wireless adhoc (computer to computer) networkoption is not their

In windows 7 I can do it this way
Control Panel -> Network and sharing center -> Select (under change your network settings)
Set up a new connection or network.
You have to scroll down to the bottom, but "set up a wireless ad-hoc computer to computer connection" is at the bottom of the list.

Sorry, not sure about win 8, or vista
