Planning on getting a new monitor and this one really stuck out to me. I like the 1ms response time and especially the 144Hz. Amazon is having an AMAZING deal on it making it only $300 over the normal $400 for it and I was wondering if anyone has it. I don't want to waste my money on it and I know that BenQ is the official MLG monitor but still - what's your experience with it? Any dead pixels? Color? Just overall review it please. I am a huge FPS gamer and will be playing GTA V with it when it comes out :p.

Please leave a detailed review and not some, "I have it, it's cool." crap.

One thing to keep in mind, 60fps on a 60hz monitor will look the same on a 144hz monitor. You need to be pulling well above 90 fps to really see the benefit of the high refresh rate.

That being said it is an amazing monitor. Its built like a tank, looks really nice, and has great features (adjustable stand, headphone hook, easy UI, tons of ports). The color quality is great, it looks as good as many other TN panels after some calibration. Just use windows to lower the contrast and add some digital vibrance on the nvidia control panel. Its also as bright as the sun.

Even when not using games, the 144hz refresh rate has its benefits. Download a smooth scroll addon for chrome or firefox. You will find yourself just scrolling up and down to see how fluid it is. Mouse movements are silky smooth.

The downsides.
Even though the colors are nice, the blacks are not the best. They look washed out. This is good for gaming, as you can see through darkness better but for watching videos and web browsing, it looks a little off.

Got one a week or so ago and it's been great.. except for the fact that after a few hours of gaming or general use, the screen will sometimes drop out to a page of gray lines that run horizontally and flicker and jump.. similar to how music eq bars do... I don't know if this is monitor, cable, driver, or gpu related, but jimmying the cable and plugging it back in seems to fix it. It has happened two or three times now though. Maybe someone from Benq will see this and lend a helping hand. I may just have to replace the DVI cable..I dont know..

Besides that mystery though, Benq has made a great product and I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone who wants to upgrade their setup and doesn't mind spending a little extra money to get top tier performance.
- The height, rotation, and viewing angle adjustment is really solid, well-designed, and easy to use.
- The s-switch is awesome, letting you avoid reaching towards the monitor using invisible touch buttons to change settings, and it fits magnetically next to the base for easy access and tidyness
- The picture is bright as fudge out of the box, but you can easily tone it down with Windows or AMD ccc like I did.
-The color is very good for a TN panel, and my monitor before this was an IPS, and I really don't miss it that much.
- The viewing angles are pretty bad for games, they're fine for browsing and general use, but kinda limiting for games. The height and angle adjustments however, allow you to find a comfortable window in which you can see everything balanced with a little room to move.
- The 120hz/144hz modes are very cool..you will need a DVI-DL cable to get that, HDMI is limited to 60hz
+ I dont play a whole lot of fps shooters so I really did not notice a huge jump in performance coming from 60hz...but I can say
that I don't have to use v-sync anymore and that I also haven't gotten a single screen tear since i got the monitor.
+ I was hoping I would be able to notice a big difference in Battlefield 4, but that can be kind of a laggy piece of shit sometimes,
really defeating the point of having any nice hardware at all. I will say though, that in Killing Floor, which is a co-op zombie
horde game where headshots are essential, that my aim and control did significantly improve with the use of 144hz mode.

Overall, it's pretty nice monitor for the money, and though you are really paying for access to 144hz for gaming, Benq gives you the cables you need in the box plus the driver cd, and it's just a really solid and well-built monitor at a fair price. I payed $350 for mine from Amazon, and I am convinced that it is worth the money for a computer enthusiast/pc gamer. I would say go for it if you have the money and a rig to utilize it.

If anyone knows anything about the screen of gray lines I would appreciate the help.

I recently got the monitor for christmas actually and I love it. No problems what-so-ever. I thin the problem that you have with the gray bars is just your unit, because mine does not have that problem.

Hey guys, I'm sitting here with a problem about this exact monitor. Up until today it worked fine but now it won't display in anything past 60hz in 1080p, when just yesterday it displayed its full 144hz fine. I'm using DisplayPort through a GTX 680 Classified; any ideas? Really want to play CS:GO again and can't tolerate less than 90fps...

I figured out the issue with the picture dropping out to gray/colored lines is due to Hardware Acceleration in programs and browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Steam. It has something to do with video playback, and I believe it is an AMD issue, as I have a 7970 black edition and have read of similar problems with other AMD users. Could be driver related, as I have seen the problem come and go, but it is definitely related to hardware acceleration and video playback.

I haven't looked much into your specific problem, but as a precursor to more investigation I would try the following:
-Make sure it really is DisplayPort and not HDMI
-If you're using Windows, go to the Control Panel, Display, Advance Settings, and make sure your monitor is set to 144hz there.
-Check in your AMD or Nvidia Driver Panel to make sure it is set to 144hz there
-Try setting the Display Mode on the monitor to Standard, as some other modes may lock frame rate (not sure about this)
-Make sure if you are running any FrameRate counting software or video recording software (Fraps, Dxtory, MSI Afterburner) that there is not a frame rate lock setting checked in any of the preferences. (happened to me before)
-Finally make sure V-sync is turned off in games and in your AMD or Nvidia Driver settings.

Beyond that I would try DualLink DVI connection as that has worked solid for me. Anything else I wouldn't know of.
