Motherboard didn't fit into my case. What did I do wrong?

Recently I built a computer, I'd say upgraded but the only original part is my SSD at this point.

I had this case: http://www.microcenter.com/product/351733/EVO_Mid_Tower_ATX_Computer_Case

And bought this motherboard: http://www.microcenter.com/product/414559/Z87_Extreme4_Socket_LGA_1150_Z87_ATX_Intel_Motherboard

They are both Form Factor ATX but the motherboard was a good inch longer than the case could fit with the power supply. I had to use my old full tower case to fit it. I don't understand what I went wrong. Help because I need to get a new case to replace the crappy one I am using!

What is the case and motherboard you are using? I cannot open that link you have posted, thats why..

Sadly not now. I gave my sister that case and my old hardware for her own use. XD
