I think I have a pretty generic PSU (Golden Field 700w?) Anyway my GTX780 is arriving today and I'm not sure how I'm going to power it or if I can even power it with my current PSU.

I've read the 780 needs 2x 8-pin connectors but my PSU seems to only have 1x 8-pin connector which is already being used straight to the motherboard. Can I split this 1x 8-pin plug In to 3x 8-pin plugs using two splitter cables?

All I have left is the following:

I have two of these coming off the same wire:

This:

This:

And this:

Obviously I'm no PSU expert so can I use this PSU with adapters or something? Or do I need a new PSU?

You can use adapters yes. It's not recommended but I've done it before and never had an issue. Just google the card you are getting and check to see if it comes with converters in the package contents section. Cards usually come with the required converters. Also that 700w should be fine for the card.

I think it comes with these:

So it looks like I can turn my existing 2x 6-pin connectors in to 1x 8-pin connector then if I go out and get 1x 8-pin splitter I can split the 1x existing 8-pin that goes to my motherboard in to two?

Rather just use the converter that takes the two 4 pin molex connectors

You can do that too. If your system has 2 open 6 pin connectors and 2 open 4 pin molex connectors then I don't see the need for you to get anything extra. The converters that come with the card will be fine. Unless you don't have 2 open 4 pin molex ones.

It looks like that's a 6-pin output on the other end of them molex's though, and I think I need an 8-pin. Check my post above as I've found an adapter in a local shop?

If the card needs 2 8 pin ones. Then the card won't come with a 6pin converter. That doesn't make sense. It should come with 2 8 pin ones or whatever is required by the card.

No problem. I'm pretty sure you will be fine with what you currently have and what comes with the card. Unless the company who made the card is trying to screw with people. Which I doubt

Card has arrived and does need 2x 8-pin connectors.

There are two adaptors in the box both 2x 6-pin to 1x 8-pin.

I have 2x spare 6-pin plugs so thats one sorted but I can't connect the other with  what I have here.

I have 2x spare 4-pin molex plugs, so my question is my local shop has a 1x 4-pin to 1x8-pin adapter. Can I use that or do I need 2x 4-pin to 1x 8-pin?

1 x 4pin to 1x8 pin should work fine

What happened? You get a molex to pci express 8 pin adapter. I've had one. You sure that's the one you got? Generally you get the 2 x molex to 8 pin pci-e. Make sure its the PCI-e adapter and not the 8pin EPS connector that goes onto the motherboard. I assumed you referred to the 8pin pci-e adapter when you mentioned that. Sorry about the confusion there and glad your card is fine.

Just get the 2 x molex to 8pin pci-e. that's the safest option and make sure its not the EPS connector. They are both 12v but different sequence.
