Hello, I really hope you can help. My old XP laptop died suddenly so I bought a new one with windows 7 instead. I downloaded the microsoft restore utility to allow the backed up bkf file from my old laptop to be restored from my external hard drive to my win 7 laptop. The wizard seems to run fine, (although its over in 5 mins) and the names of the files I need appear on my win 7 computer. Unfortunately, the report at the end of the wizard tells me all the files were skipped because of 'Insufficient privilege for the file'. When I try to open any of the files on the win 7 laptop I am told access is denied. My old lap top is totally dead so I can not get into it to change permissions. When I check permissions of the bkf file on my external hard drive it says Everyone. I did have a password on my old laptop, could this have something to do with the problem? Is there some software that can allow me to open my files? What can I do, I really need these files!!????
