so im upgrading my pc, so far i've decided to swap my AMD Athlon II X4 631 2.6GHz for a AMD FX-8320, so now comes the graphics card. As it says in the title i have an Asus HD 6850 which if i was to upgrade my budget would be around $160, i may not even need to upgrade just wondering. My motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3.Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 if that helps at all.

More about : good upgrade asus 6850

A best Graphics card you could ever get under $160 is r7 260x I guess, which is of $139. But still not near to your current gpu. If you wan't to add more $40 to your gpu budjet You could surely get a good bang for buck and buy a r9 270x which has performance near an hd 7950. So not really need to upgrade your gpu unless you can't stay away from ultra-high settings. But an r9 270x is really worth that extra $40. So think about it. \m/,

oh okay then so you don't think there is much point in upgrading unless i go above my budget and get a r9 270x? If i did would it make much of a difference? Sorry im a bit of a newbie to all of this but im trying to learn haha!

Upgrading from a 6850 to a 7870 (270x is a rebranded 7870) is like the difference between a 7770 and a 7870, it's nearly twice as powerful

A 7870 XT is even more powerful than that

It would deffenitely make a difference. R9 270x is even better than 7870 and near to a 7950. So either buy a 270x or upgrade later and buy r9 280x. Your current Gpu is very close to a 7790 so you can play games like Crysis 3 at med-high with it. Your Cpu is also good for games like Crysis 3, and even for Watch dogs.
So at current released requirements of watch dogs you should be able to play it on medium settings with 6850.
And it's fine bro! because todays newbie is tommorows pro!
If you are a gamer, u'll probably never forget this sentence.
