Hi.

Recently I purchased 8GB of RAM (2x4GB) from Over Clockers UK for my laptop.

I checked the Corsair website to check compatibility issues with my Dell XPS 15 (L501x) and it seems to be ok.

The modules in question is Corsair (CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9)

However I am having issues posting to Windows.

- Runs bios fine
- Ram is acknowledged in BIOS

I tried just using one stick, however it has the same occurance.

On the link below I have a link to YouTube of what it is happening, alongside screenshots linked to what BSOD's I am receiving randomly as well.

I installed my old RAM and it worked fine.

I sent the RAM back to Over Clockers, they sent me replacement RAM, however it seems to still not work.

Could it be compatibility issues, or perhaps a setting which needs changing my end?

Would appreciate any help!!

From the BSOD 0x0000000A, it is still about the RAM problem.

Can you go into the "Safe Mode" by press the F8 Key? If you can then go to load the "last known good configuration" . If you can't and get the money back or get other set the RAM, because the RAM is the valueselect type, as I know they have more problems than other RAM.

Safe Mode doesn't even work - its restarting on a loop! Yeah I have emailed OCUK and they're sorting me out a refund.

Would you recommend a set of 2 x4GB DDR3 for my model? Only I refuse to pay Dells ridiculous price for their own RAM.

Cheers

This is NOT a faulty RAM problem, it is definitely a compatibility problem.
I have the same problem, however I have a few different laptops, and while the new RAM (2x4G with identical specifications) works in the other laptops, it does NOT work in the Dell. same problem of boot cycle reported across the Web. The working RAM from the other laptops also does not work in the Dell XPS 15 L501x even with latest BIOS version. Using just one ( tried about 6 different ones ) in the same slot as the old existing 4G also does not work.
Still searching for compatible RAM.

Same here. After checking with multiple manufacturer websites and forums, I was convinced that a 4GB DDR3 1600 stick would work on my L501x. So I got a Corsair ValueSelect one. To my dismay and frustration, it does not work. Its detected by the BIOS (A08) on its own and in combination with the pre-installed Samsung 4 GB 1333 stick. But, Windows won't boot. It just goes into a reboot loop. Neither Recovery, nor Safe Boot, nothing works. Not even booting from a CD or USB stick works. It gets to the Windows 8.1 logo and back to the Dell boot logo. I f***ing hate Dell now. Already had that extremely dumb "AC adapter not recognised" crap due to that stupid little chip that breaks on every 3rd Dell laptop, and now this.

Have you all tried with 64bit or 32bit Windows?
I had about the same problem than you all but my thing was:
I had Win8 32bit. I went to the store. We tried the 2 x 4GB 1600MHz hynix modules there. Everything was working great.
I go home. I try to install Win8.1 64bit. Installation disc wasn't booting with the new RAM. I switch back to the old RAM, I install Win8.1 64bit. Whenever I install the new RAM modules, I get the same problem you're all describing.
So that's quite a plot twist, at least for me. 32bit, it works. 64bit, it doesn't work. Tested with several Windows installation discs and they all confirm this issue.
Any clue about why would this happen?
