My HP Pavilion laptop says, "Plugged in, not charging," when I plug in the charger. What should I do?

I don't know if HP has battery care software but my Sony Vaio has a battery care option to extend battery life by keeping the battery at 50% or 80% charges only. I use my mine plugged in about 99% of the time and I have it set at 50% charge only. When it hits 50% charge, it stops charging. I don't know if HP has this or not or if something is actually wrong with your laptop.
