8pro "repair" installation from IDE HDD to SSD

Hi All,
i am about to move my windows8 pro installation from a about-to-fail ide drive to a
kingston hyperx 3k SSD, (i need to keep installations intact)
i found the following instruction online:

i have acronis true image installed

BUT: is there a way to do a repair installation just "repairing" it to a new drive?
maybe this is a safer way to do it since we are moving the system to a ssd?
or would that not make a difference at all?
i have done this in the past using the windows installation dvd where it reinstalls windows by keeping all programs intact and functional - but can it only "repair" the drive the installation is on already -or can i move it to a new drive?

i need to do this in about 30 min from now - time is an issue - if i can't find a answer ill try the acronis route... any help greatly appreciated

I use Acronis true image on a daily basis, and it is both safe and fast.

Create a Full Image, then boot to a bootable media version of Acronis (DVD / USB), target the the archive, target the new SSD, and press go.

It will take a bit to restore, then you can restart the computer and it will come up exactly as it was before, except using the new drive.

ok - just finished deleting all i can to reduce size and will give it a go shortly and (hopefully) report back

EDIT!!! - leaving everything to acronis failed so don't be so confident,
the windows installation is unable to boot and goes to bluescreen while loading.
also fails the automatic repair attempts that take a long time to wait through.
after this even the existing windows installation on the hdd had to repair itself - nice.

i was hoping i could go through the upgrade/repair option on windows dvd afterwards on the ssd but it has to
be launched from within windows so it doesnt work in this scenario,

back to researching and will report back

Guys! I really need help here - i actually managed to login to safe mode with networking on the ssd but otherwise don't seem to work, at first i thought i missed the drive signature tickbox in acronis but that didn't change anything...
on top of all of this my dvd drive is dying - great! if it decides to start working again maybe i can launch the windows upgrade/repair option....

ok apparently this is the day of magic,
after going into safe mode regular boot also started to work,
im totally fine now and enjoying the new increased speed!

-will perform the repair reinstall asap... just in case
