Is now the time to buy a new CPU or should i wait?

Is there any reason to wait with a new CPU purchase? As is in is there anything new close to coming out on the horizon?

Really depends.

Intel's next gen CPUs are coming out Q2 next year (around June), called Broadwell, so you could wait for that.

There are always new CPUs, but as stated above, it depends what your upgrading from.
