Below I have an included a list of potential components for building my PC. This will be my first build, so any suggestions you can give will be greatly appreciated. The computer will be used mostly for gaming, 3D modeling, movies, Internet browsing, etc. I am close to finalizing my build but wanted to get some more input from the community. Have I made the best choices? Should I switch out the components for anything else? Also will I need any special tools for assembling the computer?

Solution
Chang the PSU to 550w or more and you are good to go. Have a look at XFX. They are re-branded Seasonic PSUs for less money. Same amazing quality.

Thanks for the suggestion Tiny Voices. Do you have any other suggestions? Are there any other things I can do to lower the cost? Since this is my first build I glad for any help .

First of all go to PCpartpicker.com and make sure you're getting the best deal on your parts, Find somewhere with a good pricematch policy and get it all in one place at the lowest price.

and I need to ask a few questions before I can properly give you advice.

Do you plan on overclocking?
What is your budget?
What games do you play?

Do you plan on overclocking?
No. I have never overclocked anything.

What is your budget?
$1300.

What games do you play?
These are the games I want to play: Final Fantasy XIV, Batman Arkham Origins, Tom Clancy The Division, Company of Heroes 2

If you don't plan on overclocking, you have no need for the CPU cooler, stock one will do just fine

If you don't plan on overclocking you have no need for the z87 chipset and should go with a cheaper mobo

Also don't get the K version of the processor (only $10 difference but if you never will overclock there is no point)

You also don't need 16gb of RAM

I kept the Z87 chipset because it was barely cheaper to downgrade, other than that, This build has a way better PSU, Better GPU, reduced RAM (don't need 16gb) and still comes in at near $1000... If you really wanna hit that $1300 budget you can upgrade the video card even further but honestly if you're not Overclocking the...

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/20g3j

the CPU is perfect for you
Good chipset from a good brandname in Mobo's
Low Cas RAM
SSD for fast boot up
1tb of storage
a kickass video card
and a platinum rated PSU at 650W....

In other words....

Just remove the K from your cpu
downgrade to 8gb of RAM
I upgraded your video card although for the games listed it's not necessary
and I upgraded your PSU immensely

you'll need a medium sized phillips screwdriver... any specialty stuff comes with... oh and get an anti static band so you don't fry your components accidentally, or remember to ground yourself out periodically

Wow! Thanks for all your help PierceScott! This is exactly the kind of help I was looking for. Since it is my first build I am a little nervous. But you have definitely pointed me in the right direction. I will make sure to get the anti static wrist guard.

Any suggestions on a sound card and wireless network card? What is the best place to buy Windows 8.1 Pro?

Tiny is right, don't bother with a sound card, moterboards have HD sound built in. If you're going wireless look for a mobo that has it built in. As per buying windows, I do not know sir sorry =(
