I thought maybe people would be able to use this information if you have a Dell laptop with a slot load DVD writer or an Alienware one. The HLDS GA31N is a slot load DVD writer and it does not have a hardware button on it for eject. I did some research and couldn't find an exact tutorial on how to trigger an eject function from the PCB. So I found a similar drive and they suggested shorting a couple contacts. Mine of course wasn't exactly the same, so it took some prodding but I found it!

In the picture you see the ribbon cable with the red arrow. That's the signal line. The other red arrow points to the screw. Basically any place on the metal chassis works, but that's the common. Touch a line between those and voila! Disk ejects!
Just thought this might be handy for someone.
