Hello All,

I just installed a Sapphire Radeon 4850 x2 video card in my PC and it wouldn't power on when I was complete. I had to remove the power supply cable from the video card to get my PC powered up. Even without the power supply plugged in, the video card has 3 red lights lit up once the PC is on. Any help is appreciated. Here is my setup...

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro4 ATX LGA1155
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" SSD
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal HD
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply: SeaSonic 620W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Monitor: Dell S2340M 60Hz 23.0"

Solution
OK .... that will explane the problem :)

As i sad at the beginning :

Why ?
Couse you GPU need 650 Watt Power Supply is required. - according to SAPHYRE web site :

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=568&pid=192&psn=&lid=1&leg=0#

Or you can link SAPHYRE to you calculator and show them they are wronge .....
And the you can tell you GPU to start not to mess with you ......

Just find 650 / 700 W PSU to test !

Try bigger PSU or you have used bad MOLEX to PCE converters if you used those try to change the cables you conect them to balance the load to PSU

Those red-led`s are for power lines to the GPU
green - OK
red - BAD or not enought power

Well it's my understanding that 620W should be plenty. When the lights are on, the PSU is not connected to the video card. So that would explain there not being enough power. The weird thing is, not only will my PC not turn on with the video card connected to teh PSU, but when I disconnect the PSU from the video card my PC still wont turn on for about 10 minutes.

OK ....
You have 2 x 4850 right ?
Install just 1 x 4850
Connect the 6 pin power connector to the video card
Power on you PC
Test you Video Card with any game or FURMARK
If it`s working repeat the test with the other one
Then if you still have no luck with 2 x 4850 you should try bigger PSU

Try to switch the GPU`s slots also ....

I don't have two video cards, it's 2 processors on one unit. I can't power up just one at a time...

The peak power usage of the video card is rated at 392.4 Watts.

Here is the results from a power supply calculator I used...
