Hi, I dual boot between Win 7 & 8. Since upgrading my card to a gtx770, windows 7 refuses to recognise it! Windows 8 is fine. Any ideas?
Windows 7 will boot but runs on basic settings - the 770 isn't in the hardware list?? Worked fine with my old 470!

Have you installed the latest NVidia drivers?

Your card is obviously being recognized since you see things on the screen, however it will use basic Windows drivers until you get the proper ones from www.nvidia.com .

Same for W8.

(BTW, for most people dual-booting W7/W8 is pointless. W8 is W7 with a new interface and some tweaks under the hood. If it's an interface thing get START8. You may have a different reason though.)

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'll have a try with that. The reason I was dual booting was I didn't fancy re-installing everything from my Win7 system! So just in case I didn't get on with 8, I could just carry on with 7. I now really like 8 - but would like to be able to pop in and out of the 2.
I'll let ya know if it works :)

START8 works really well in case you didn't know.

Windows 8 while using Start8 is basically the same as using Windows 7 however the new interface is there if you wish it. Start8 has settings you need to look at such as disabling Charms features in Desktop mode; the top-right one especially is annoying as it pops up easily when trying to close a program.

The latest Start8 works properly with the W8.1 update. If you haven't updated to 8.1 yet then do so, it's started through the STORE. It didn't show up on my dad's laptop, but then I found out Microsoft Updates wasn't turned on for some reason. I enabled Automatic Updates, let it update, went to the STORE tile and the 8.1 update option was there.

Question:
When you say "I'll have a try with that" what did you mean? Did you mean that you hadn't yet installed the proper NVidia drivers?
