I want to build a back-up box with an i7 3770K ivy bridge and z77 MOBO.

I want to use the GPU off the chip to avoid buying a video card.

Do I just use a DVI to mini port connector and attach that to my MoBo's mini display port?

I tried doing that on my regular PC and I couldn't get my monitor to work, but maybe it was because I already had a video card mounted to my board.

Thanks

Well you didnt specify what board you had, as lot of the z77 ATX mobos do have a DVI and VGA port to connect display to. Either way you can go mini display/DP to HDMI or to DVI either way it should work fine.

The DVI connector is on the video card. I'm trying get away from a video card and use the GPU on the Intel chip.

My MoBo only has a mini-port.

Thanks, I'll boot the new board up with the mini display hooked to my monitor.
