I got a new case today and installed a new motherboard. When I hooked everything up the power button wouldn't work and I had to do a hard boot from the button on the motherboard. However I couldn't setup the bios because there is no thermal paste on the cpu and it overheats and makes the gpu turn off. Anyway, could the lack of thermal paste be causing the power button not to work? Because I was told some components won't work until I apply the thermal paste for greater cpu connection. Any help at all would be great.

on the case make sure the on button cable is connected on both ends. some cases use a small daughter card to plug in the power button and usb cables sometime the power button cable not pushed in. on the mb header make sure the wires are on the right pins. a lot of times people mix up the reset and power on wires. try pressing the reset button and see if the rig turns on.

I will get back to you all once I get the thermal paste on it tomarrow. My tube was delivered to my local post office today. What I am thinking is the problem is what he mentioned about seeing if it is connected properly on both ends. I also believe the thermal paste is a big problem too because someone else had the problem I have where the gpu wants to start up however it stops due to the amount of heat produced. So, I will let you all know tomarrow what happens!

Its not killed, the light showed up on the mobo saying the cpu was active. Keep in mind it has a very small amount on it from the stock heatsink. I left it on for a total of 5 seconds then shut it down for the night.
