Attempting to make my internet downloads and programs be stored on a different drive by default.

By default, downloads from the internet (AVG, Java, etc.) are saved to my SSD since some don't allow you to choose what folder to store them in. I am attempting to change this in order to only have my OS on my SSD and use my HDD for everything else.

Forgive me, but I'm not very computer savvy. The HDD is also completely empty and I've noticed that all programs are stored in a file labeled "Program Files (x86)" on the SSD. Am I supposed to create some sort of special folder for the programs to operate correctly on my HDD? Again, sorry, but I'm completely clueless about this matter.

Thanks in advance for the help. Any additional information that is needed, I will be happy to provide.

Solution
Hello... When installing programs, ALWAYS choose CUSTOM install, to install on your DATA drive...
When Downloading files, ALWAYS choose "SAVE AS..." To save files on your DATA drive.

No need to create special folder for programs and such, But you can make folders so you know what's in each of them
