OK guys I got a few questions.
How does this PC stake up to a PS4
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1ZEz7
I recently wanted to go for a higher build but I just cant see me pulling out another 300 dollars.

Will the FX-6300 stay in the game for another 2 years or so. Also i know a Radeon 7870 is pretty weak or is now at least. Do you think I will be able to pull over 40 fps.

What fps is considered smooth, where this is no lag basically. Are there any other graphics card you recommend that are under 200 or so.
NVIDIA cards good? Im just not sure. I been researching and learning more and more but apparently this generation is going to be based on AMD so IM going to guess that AMD will lead.

ID appreciate all opinions. I got a few weeks. If this build will perform worse then a ps4 then i might just get a ps4 as it comes out in 2 weeks (or will least be in stock by then)

I know ps4 will be in either 920p and 1080p in some games/at 60fps which is pretty high end i guess you could say.

So what do you think..
thanks.

Solution
Gaming pc
pros:
cheap games( new games are £35, on steam you can find older but awesome games for a few quid)
powerful
customizable
Better graphics (for bigger money)
multitasking, doing many things
Better looking ( you can buy awesome cases, inside can look better than a console)
cons:
A pc that can play games in 1080p 60fps is around twice as money as ps4
expensive if you want to modify it
You will be able to play games at 1080p at 60fps for a year or two, but you will be able to play them as well later on at slightly less frame rate
Problems: drivers, cooling, softwares does not like each other ( but acually it is a con for me :))

Consoles:
pros:
plug and play. no hassle
relatively cheap
more friends tend to use them (dont know...

you can`t really compare the 2
ps4 will play games better at all the times for cheaper.
the reason is simple: they sell ps4 with same spec, so the manufacturing will cost less, and they can make games that will run in 1080p, because they are the same, easy to optimise.
Whereas a pc relatively expensive, every pc is different, and there are some beautiful but demanding games.
about your pc: seems good, although I would choose a different card, for example a gtx 760 or even a 7950 if you can stretch your budget, i dont really know the prices in $

buy the PC if you are a pc enthusiast, love every hassle of it and want a computer with loads of functionality

buy a ps4 if lots of your friends get one, and want to play with them. PS4/and so does xbox one are pretty decent machines for their money, they made for games and they are good for gaming. Personally I am going with a PC now, because I love pc-s and an xbone later on

Thanks for opinions. I'm just lost now. I been playing a Xbox for years.. My neighbor moved in we became friends. He showed me his gaming Pc and basically I **** myself (lol). I never PC gamed in my life. After i saw his PC. I started researching and researching for weeks. I learned more about it, watched you tube videos on comparisons. According to everybody PC is better. Better graphics better this better that.

I just wanted to give it a try. According to everybody they went from console to PC and they say they can never come back. This next generation is going to be at 1080p or so at 50+ frames per second. Which is hard to beat for a 400$ console.

I'm just curious is it hard?
Modders on 1 week old games?
Are the graphics really that much as what people say.
Would my build last me 2 years or so. By then ill have a job and $
Console graphics on low-mid? compared to PC graphics.

Has anyone switched over and regretted it. Keep opinions coming i surely appreciate it. I got a few weeks /then X-mas is coming up. I might be able to spread my budget out some. If it would make that much of a difference/ i just said 7870 cause i seen beta game-play on bf4 at 30-50 fps on full ultra. on 4xaa. I dont know much about 4x---crap but I been told it makes a big diffrence on FPS -so basically i could be getting around 50-60fps. Thats beta to, know the drivers would probably be fixed get more out of the system?

thanks!

more friends tend to use them (dont know why, but maybe your friends use pc-s more)
it will play games nicely for 10 years( maybe less if they break)
cons:
no modifing
no game mods
you can do what they want you to do
not that personalized

If I were you I might go for a cheaper system ( 4 gb ram, amd APU, less storage) to try out, how does a pc feel, and you wont spend all yourmoney for trying it out

Gamer pc-s are expensive and complicated, but as a guy who loves computers (all of them. kinda Macs as well, but please dont tell anyone ;)
I love this complication. Building and maintaining and designing ( selecting parts) will teach you exactly how computers work, and will give you a good knowledge

wait for others opinion as well, because I think it should be discussed by more people

you might make and "older" gaming pc, for example based on Intel Q6600
It wont be that expensive, but it could play games well enough
When Ill be home, I will send you some computers

your pc will always be better since ps4 limits some games fps to 30 even I mean you can't compare the 2, PC will always be vastly superiour to consoles because pc market grows way faster than consoles do.

Also another con to consoles is the pricetag of games, sure the console is cheap but you'll spend lots of money on new games for it. A pc you can just build and future proof it by buying a good case and powersupply. then add things as you go a long. if you get into it it's actually really fun to work on your pc.
These are all features why I prefer my pc over a console any day.
I have steam to play with friends on pc so that's not a problem.

Well, in 8 years time your pc will be better than ps4, but for example there are some beautiful games on ps3/xbox 360 still
Yes, a more expensive pc will be much better, but please, get over it.
Well, you got a point, games are £10 expensive on consoles
No, you cant futureproof a pc with a good case and psu. These two components does not help to gain any performance in general, teh thing you need to upgrade it is actually expensive parts, compared to consoles.
Well, fun and steam. They are big part that I am into pc gaming :)

what exactly do you mean in 8 years? His pc is already stronger than ps4, by the way I'm not looking to start a console war vs pc here or anything just facts.
And what I meant with futureproofing your pc with a decent power supply and case is I mean the room to upgrade.
For example I just got an RM 850 watt power supply and obsidian 750D that I don't really use much of for the moment but I am looking to get a new gpu and later I still have the space to get a second one and improve the performance even more.
good case and power supply add room for upgrades. I didn't say boost performance.
About the price for games on pc, steam does regular sales where they sell triple A titles even 80% off, also take a look at this weeks humble bundle from warner bros games. FEAR2/3 Batman Arkham city and asylum, lotr war in the north scribblenauts and more for what ... 4 euros? :)

Xbox 360 came out in 22.11.05, that was exactly 8 years ago. damn i feel old now
Ohh, I got you know! you are right

At consoles, power does not really mean anything to us, end users. We just need to put in our games, and thats it, no need to worry if the ram will be enough, or is there any upgrade out there, because there is not. The person who needs to really worry about it is the developers. For us, we just need to enjoy the games( I think they look rather gorgeous), and no other worries

I bought like 60 games in a year, for less than 2 new console game price

at the end of the day it comes down to what you the user wants I guess. Myself I started with pc gaming and I couldn't see myself ever getting a console but it is rather easy for console users to play games. No need to worry about drivers blue screening your console because the OS has been updated! damn you windows 8.1
