I am about to purchase parts for a new build. I was looking at the maximus gene and and trying to find out what it is that I need to get the wifi working on the mPCIe combo card. I know you need an antenna, which I found. Do you need the wireless card as well? If so where can I buy one where you plug an antenna into it? I would like to figure this out before I buy the board. I am stationed overseas and shipping anything to me takes about 2 months so I don't want to have to wait 2 more months after the computer is built waiting on a wireless connector.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The gene doesn't come with the wifi adapter, just the mPCIe combo card that you put the wireless card in.

The video you showed is one I actually watched myself. The wireless card and ssd are both bought separately. The black adapter is what is included with the gene. The formula and extreme boards are the only with the built in wifi. Unlike what is shown in the video, how would the antenna be connected to the wifi card?

Ah, that's right, it doesn't. I thought it had the same built in wifi as the other VI boards. Regardless, the since the wifi card used is basically a laptop card, the antenna's use a micro jack and plug directly into the mini wifi card itself, then you just route and secure the wiring whever you want inside/outside the case.
