Is my HDD failing, or is it something else?

I've upgraded my Lenovo H330 by adding a HD 7870 gpu, new case and a 600w psu. It's been running fine for quite some time now, but this past week I've been seeing this error when I come to turning it on:

Error 1962. No operating system found. Press any key to repeat boot sequence. (or something along those lines)

After messing around with it, I've figured out that if I leave the machine turned off for about 10 mins, it will fix itself. However, if I play CoD: Ghosts, or Battlefield 4, the machine crashes and right after, I'm returned to the same message upon Startup.

If I hold down F12 to get to the Startup Device Menu, it only shows my DVD drive. Leave it 10 mins, and the HDD shows up and I can load win 7 again.

Do you think buying a replacement HDD would fix my problems, or could the issue be somewhere else? (Current: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-ST3500413AS-Barracuda-7200rpm-Buffer/dp/B004HBAGRA#productDetails)

Thanks for any advice

P.S: How do I find out what Sata my mobo supports? It's a CIH61C but I can't find any specs for it.

Make sure the HDD is secure and plugged in to the PSU and if the problem still persists try and attempt to RMA it.

I've backed up the majority of my data that I care about and I believe the HDD is out of warranty. I've removed both the power cables and the data cables and hooked them back up again, with no change.

What I'd like to know (if possible) is if it is indeed my harddrive at fault, or something else, as I'd obviously like to avoid the additional costs I would incur by replacing my harddrive only to find out that the fault is somewhere else.

I'd rather not go through the whole fiasco of sending my HDD off for repair and waiting 2+ weeks to hear back, I'd much prefer just to upgrade to a better HDD if I have the excuse to. I am going to buy a new data cable first and make sure it's not that which is acting up, as they seem rather cheap.

Finally, assuming it is my HDD at fault, would my system support this: http://www.ebuyer.com/544878-seagate-2tb-desktop-sshd-st2000dx001 or would I need to upgrade my mobo?
