Hello, this is my first post to this forum and my first desktop self build setup. My hardware is AMD 8350 processor 2 msi twin frozr iii radeon 7850 2gig DDR5 ASRock fx990 extreme 3 motherboard and a 600 watt PSU. The system is up and running and seems to be functioning great. Had a hard time getting the crossfire to work with both cards but currently they both are being used.
However, for some reason I am not getting very good performance on games. I have ran the hitman absolution benchmark and only achieved about 25fps average with crossfire and the game on the highest settings. I tried without crossfire and fps averaged just slightly less and then tried with crossfire on again and lowest settings and barely got 30fps average. Also during game play the settings have to be no more than medium to get about 30fps. I am using fraps to view the fps during the game and the resolution is 1920x1080. I also left msi afterburner on to see the graph of both cards to make sure both are being used and it confirmed they are.

Also, using the msi kombustor for benchmarking I get 150 fps running 3D 1080 preset and it shows both cards being utilized, however when I run a full benchmark I can barely get an average of 25fps on most scenes. Also, I recently noticed that when I am not doing anything and watching the msi afterburner screen it shows that GPU2 is running at 99% all the time.

I am assuming this has to be a software issue or something wrong with settings. I am leaving crossfire off till I can figure out why it is maxing out my second GPU. I have downloaded the latest drivers from amd along with the latest catalist control center. I did find an update for my bios but I have not done it yet since some people have problems updating the bios with asrock and its only one version behind the newest. Also, monitoring my processor during all this it never goes over 50%. Hopefully someone will have an idea for me. Thanks in advanced.

Update: I turned off MSAA on the display settings in the game and my fps has gone up to 60-100 with graphics settings on ultra. I don't know what MSAA is but I am assuming now that it is best to leave this off in games for better performance?
