So, yea. The past 2 days my ram has been at like 44% when just looking at my desktop. I have 8gb of ram too. I've heard that W7 takes a lot of ram, but never read that it takes that much?

This is typical and largely wasteful, alot of that memory is being occupied by snippets of programs loading at startup whose sole purpose is to supposedly increase the opening time of apps, if you look in MSCONFIG or a utility progaram that can see startup items you'll prob see a number of odds and ends, often 1-3 ADOBE rferences that are nothing more than snippets to cut initial opening of Flash Player or Acrobat byt a second or less.
