I just changed my video card to a GTX 460 and the next thing I noticed, the RAM wasn't working propelly.

In the system proprieties window it says 4gb are installed but only 2 are usable. On the BIOS menu, it only shows 2gb. In the resource monitor window, 2gb of RAM are listed in grey as "reserved for hardware". And finally, CPU-Z shows 4gb of RAM in single channel, even though I have 2 sticks of 2gb each.

I verified the unchecked box on MSconfig but still no results. My MB is a MIH55T-MV2 (I know it's crappy) and I'm running W7 64bit on an i7 870 (first gen).

What could have gone wrong?

May have been the mobo basically has a preference for two slots as being Primary - some do - may not have been fully seated, and the mobo wasn't getting a good read, could be a bad DRAM slot......can close the thread by by selecting a Pick as the Solution button in a response

Good news!

I opened up my PC and exchanged the 2 sticks' slots. It worked fine afterwards. Changing the BIOS to the Optimal Presets didn't do a thing though,

Now why would changing the slots help? The 2 sticks are the same...

I think you guys may close the topic now, thanks for the assistance!
