How much of an impact does overclocking do?

It depends on what processor you have and how far you take it. With some processors you can take them from 2.4ghz to 4ghz and it makes a huge difference and it can be the difference between a game running smoothly or not, but then in other cases you can barely get anymore out of a processor and it'll be the difference of 1-2fps and no noticeable difference in normal use
