In your Service Manual found here http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/Pr... under the Manuals and Documentation tab, I could find no mention of CMOS or other reset jumpers.
Here's the course of action I suggest; using your service manual to guide you, open the computer (take the back off) locate the CMOS battery (watch battery thing) remove the battery for 30 seconds and then put it back in. Then plug in your machine (with back cover off) and attempt to start it, see if either or both of your fans are spinning. If either or both are not, they will likely need replacement. If they are spinning then cleaning and possibly a fresh application of thermal compound would seem to be in order

The fans work, I'm pretty sure it was from that bios update. The password is what is confusing me, it's not windows user password, it's in command prompt. It is a 6 character password and I have no clue on what to do with it. It was my grandfather's computer just before he passed. After he passed it hasn't really been used or attempted to be used until now. I'm the only one in my immediate family with electronic knowledge and i have no idea on how to go about this.
