Cooler Master's HAF cases are horribly loud.

Since when? I have one and it's quite silent and I'm quite happy with it. It all depends on your configuration and choice of fans. Of course, if you fill one up with all the fans it could possibly take and you have a pair of high end gfx cards that run on stock cooling and run the cpu on stock cooling, it would definitely be noisy as heck, and the fact that these cases are very "open" (lots of meshing) obviously doesn't help.
Granted, I wouldn't ever say that they are the best cases out there, but claiming they are "horribly loud" is a gross exaggeration and actually misleading. It all depends on your build.

However, having said that, I do like your suggestion/alternative for a case. Seems like a neat case for the price.

Have to agree, I use a number of their different cases and haven't any problems or complaints at all about them supposedly being loud - no doubt they could be if one is using very cheap add on fans, but even with some lower end ones I've seen added - no sounds issues

The last HAF case I used, which was the 932, it was loud and rather deafening with the cheap fans they used on it. I'll return to the HAF cases until one beats my Corsair 500R.
