I tried two different calculators and got a recommendation of 830w and 640w for my build in progress. I'd also like an opinion from actual people so what do you guys think?

I'll probably be gaming at 1440p

So far I like the Corsair AX Series because of the supposedly quiet fan. My Corsair TX650 is damn loud after about a year and a half of use so I'll throw it in an older rig.

Would an AX750 be enough for an i7-4770k and Dual 290's?

Thanks for your help!

The R9 290 peaks around 250W, so two of them is 500W, leaving 250W for the rest of the system. That should be sufficient, especially with a high-end PSU like that. The overclocking headroom isn't huge, so you could grab a higher-capacity PSU if you want to have a free hand in OCing.

750w would be sufficient, the AX750 especially can take a bit more load than what its rated for.

Personally I'd be more inclined to get an 850w, PSU's make the most efficiency at around 80% load so its preferable not to keep them too close to being maxed out. Not to mention that a PSU rated for 850w would have better thermals and therefore less noise than an otherwise identical 750w. You'd also have more room to kick in with some overclocking as Sakkura pointed out.
