I recently built a gaming computer. it only takes about 10 seconds to get to the windows login screen, but after that it takes about 2 mins to load my desktop/programs. it also randomly gives me (stopped responding) on windows even if its just my internet browser. after a about 10-20 seconds its back to running smoothly.. as far as i know everything is up to date with the latest drivers and updates. heres my build.

what can i do to fix these random lag spikes? its annoying that i spent this much on a pc and it seems like it cant handle it at times.

Solution
Can't hurt to try, when you do, make sure to update the mobo drivers from the latest available on the mobo website, and after those and Win, load the latest GPU drivers, then try a game and see how things go before loading any other apps, then after each app you load boot and try a game to see if the last app loaded has any negative effects

Sounds like something is hanging up during start up, would check all the items in start up, would suggest a program like WinPatrol that lets you see start up items and dis-able and then renable as needed....DISable things like the program snippets from Adobe and other programs - another thing is check you mobo site and ensure you have all the latest drivers (check and upgrade BIOS also if needed - which means if there's a newer BIOS), same with GPU drivers - XFire still has a lot of problems

i turned off quite a bit of programs in my startup and it booted much quicker. so id suppose thats fixed. my bios version in the UEFI setup says its Asrock 990fx extreme4 2.0.
should i go here and get the download on top?
http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=990FX%20Extreme4&o=BIOS

im actually thinking my gpu drivers are messed up though. when i added my 2nd 7950 my games seem to run about the same performance. like my other thread states the 2nd gpu is always at 99% load. ive always just installed the new drivers over the old ones. in CCC it says my Driver packaging version is 13.25.18-131029a-164333E-ATI. and catalyst version in 13.11. should i just go into device manager uninstall and reinstall from disc?
Heres my other thread, if your able to help on that i would greatly appreciate it.

So... its been a few days. and it is still slow. i mean im playing WoW on ultra and im getting 60fps max.. (dropping to 30fps) idk if i messed up from the get go. but i mean should my computer be this slow?
i would think my 8350 and 2x 7950 should be able to handle pretty much anything i throw at it. at least wow. should i just reinstall windows and start over? im thinking i did something wrong since this is my first build ever

Think I'd try a game first before loading any of their utility programs - stick with drivers, many of the utility programs offered by the mobo makers are rather generic and not actually tuned to a specific mobo or BIOS, those apps can actually screw things up

When you got your mobo - it came with a Driver and Utility disk, some, many, maybe all may have been out of date by the time you got the mobo, what you do is go to the manufacturer's site, find your mobo and look under support, it will have all the lates drivers and utilities there - for your's go here:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?cat=Download&Model=990FX%20Extreme4

select your OS and it will pop up a list of all the latest and their revision dates, you can download from there
