Hi, I just bought a new Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 with an AMD AM3+ 3.5ghz 8-core FX black edition CPU + 2 x 8gb patriot 1333 ram. I installed it into my case with my existing PS (700w theraltake) plus 1GB ASUS GPU. It starts up and all the components (according to the LED lights which systematically flash for each to confirm its ok) are working, but I get NO feed to the monitor whatsoever!!!! Ive tried everything from removing the ram to clearing the CMOS and still nothing! Please help!

Solution
You could take the MB out of the case and breadboard it on an insulated surface with just the CPU/cooler, 1 stick RAM in 1st slot, keyboard, card, monitor, and PSU connected. Start the system by momentarily shorting the 2 pins that the pwr button connects to. If you still get no display and you are sure the card is good and the PSU is adequate, I would assume the MB is defective and needs to be RMA'd.

Does you gfx card require a PCIe 6/8 pin power connector? Is it connected?
Is the card firmly in the PCIe X16 slot? The 1st slot?
Do you know if the card works? The monitor?
Is your monitor set to receive the input that the card is outputting? DVI, HDMI, VGA?

i dont believe it needs one no, yes the card work (it is less than 12 months old and compatible with the mobo), i have removed and re-placed it several times. Yes the monitor works and I have tried via hdmi & vga and nothing
