I'm running Windows 7 on a Dell Latitude. Ever since I bought this computer I've had trouble connecting to the internet. When I'm not in the same room as my router I cannot connect to the Internet......it will say there is a strong signal coming from my router but it won't let me connect. I rarely have issues connecting while in the same room as the router.

I can sometimes connect to the internet while in the same room as the router and walk into the other room and it will stay connected for 10-15 minutes and then lose connection again.

I have switched routers and even switched ISPs and nothing has helped. I also tried getting an external wireless card that I plug into my USB but that had the same results.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know as my computer is now out of warranty and has turned into a $1,400 paper-weight.

Thank you in advance...

This router is a technicolor TC8305C from Xfinity. The last router I had was from Motorola and I'm not sure of the model number. I had the same issue with both.

The walls in our house now are sheet-rock w/ studs and it was the same in our old house.

how many walls are there between the router and the location you want to use the laptop?

once you go trough multiple walls the signal gets to week to keep a constant connection.

some solutions are us a Extender, or use Powerline adapters and an Access Point

It was 1 wall at my old house and now it's two walls. The signal is always 4/5 bars but it's still dropping connections and/or not connecting. All of my other labtops (both XP), phones and tables work fine.

Could it be that the security with Windows 7 is causing the dropped connections?
